Good Standing recognises and rewards the efforts of individual students who consistently display the four core values of:
Having a positive ‘good standing’ encourages students to take responsibility for their unproductive behavioural choices and to make the changes to improve their behaviour. The ‘Good Standing’ policy has been developed to support the PBS framework.
Attending or inclusion in a wide range of special events (incursions/excursions) supports student learning in this school.
To attend/be considered for special events, a student must have ‘good standing’. This means they need to be:
Students will lose their good standing if:
A student can lose ‘good standing’ if they fail to consistently maintain a high standard of behaviour. A referral to the office is recorded on Integris and this will determine when the ‘good standing’ has been lost.
If there is intervention by the principal or deputy due to a serious incident, then students can immediately lose their good standing.
Students who have lost ‘good standing’ are required to successfully complete a behaviour contract which is individualised to help the student regain their ‘good standing’.
Depending on the stage, students need to earn the required number of points in order to regain their ‘good standing’. Therefore, if they are at ‘Stage 1’, they need to earn 70 points. During each period, students can earn between 0 and 3 points depending on their engagement and demonstration of positive behaviour.
When a student has successfully completed the behaviour contract, they are deemed to have regained their ‘good standing’.
Any student who is at significant risk of not maintaining ‘good standing’ (factors out of their control) will be identified and placed on an individualised plan that supports them to work towards attaining ‘good standing’.
